PM: Government Will Address Inflation

The rate of inflation was a key issue during the recent Cabinet retreat. Prime Minister John Briceño says while there are many factors that have led to the high cost of living – some global – there are measures that the government can take to ease the burden on consumers.

“While price increases are due largely to external factors, we believe that there are steps that can be taken by Government to ease the hardship. We are actively reviewing the basket of goods on which tax relief can be granted. We’ll vigorously increase enforcement of price controls and adopt measures to curb price-gouging.”
