Dijon Foreman is Shot Dead by Friend in Japan Area of Ladyville
There were two murders reported overnight – one in Belize City and the other in the Japan area of Ladyville. While unrelated, these incidents occurred within an hour of each other. It is not known what really transpired inside a house in the village, but around seven-thirty p.m., shots rang out and one friend had purportedly shot and killed another. News Five’s Duane Moody reports.

Twenty-seven-year-old Dijon Foreman left his home after he was asked to visit a friend on Myrtle Wade Crescent in the Japan area of Ladyville. Shortly after Foreman arrived at the residence, which is around the corner from where he lived, approximately ten gunshots rang out. Foreman was reportedly killed by a man he thought was a friend.

“Based on the information gathered so far by investigators, they are saying that it was only the person that owns the house and the victim that was there. The victim lives not too far from where he was killed and we don’t want to make any presumption. We are just sticking to the facts.”

“Sir, is there any indication at this point if these two men were acquaintances?”
ASP Fitzroy Yearwood
“Indications are, but like I said, we have to be very careful. We wouldn’t want anyone to get off on any technicality and then people will try to lay blame.”
After the shots rang out, reports are that the gunman, who lives at the residence, ran up the street with the gun in hand. He returned seconds later and waited until police arrived. The shooter was taken into custody and the gun used to end Foreman’s life was retrieved.

“While at that residence, they saw the person that occupies that house behaving in a nervous manner and while questioning that person, he claimed that someone went to his residence and tried to shoot him. Police did an extensive search of the yard where they found twenty-seven-year-old Dijon Foreman in the yard motionless, apparently dead. Police conducted additional searches in the yard where they came upon a firearm that they believe may have been the murder weapon. This man has since been detained by Ladyville police and we are hoping to bring closure to that incident very soon.”
Charges have not been levelled at this time as police continue with its investigation, gathering statements from as many as eight witnesses and surveillance footage from the area. The suspected shooter has had a history of run-ins with the law.
“What I can tell you is for our investigators right now this is looking pretty good and we are hoping to gather more information from neighbours. If you know Myrtle Wade Crescent, the houses are not too far from each other and we are hoping that we get full cooperation from the general public and maybe we can just bring some closure to that family.”
