Journalists complete training
Since training abroad is so costly and only a few people at a time usually get to go, the British High Commission brought the trainer to Belize. Over the past two weeks practicing journalists were given a crash course in everything from basic storywriting to covering press conferences more effectively. Instructor Mike Unger has conducted courses for the Commonwealth Press Union in Barbados, Jamaica, Canada and South Africa to help journalists, particularly those working with newspapers, to make their product more accurate, relevant and interesting to readers. Belizean journalists from both TV stations, most Belize City radio stations and a variety of newspapers attended the sessions which ended today.
