Senator charged with harm, traffic violations
The police, who are at times somewhat reluctant to release information to the media, today sent out a special bulletin devoted entirely to charges being filed against U.D.P. Senator Audrey Matura Tillett. Matura is being charged in causing a three-vehicle accident at the foot of the BelChina Bridge on April 13 as well as harm against a B.E.L. employee just minutes before the accident. In the incident at the BelChina Bridge Matura, who was heading up the bridge from Douglas Jones Street, reportedly failed to honor a stop sign which had just been placed at the junction that morning. It had previously been posted on North Front Street. Her Trooper collided into a taxi driven by Stannis Thomas and then hit Abel Lopez’s Nissan car which was parked at the sign on North Front Street. A full three days after the crash Matura was served with a summons charging her with driving without due care and attention, failing to conform to a traffic sign and negligent harm. She is also being charged with harming B.E.L. employee, Sharett Miguel, during a heated dispute about a half an hour before the accident.
