Cayo Woman Collects $10K in Scratch and Win

The latest scratch and win winner is ten thousand dollars richer. Karissa, a resident of Santa Elena, was on the phone with her husband, who was in the U.S., while she scratched the lucky ticket. To their surprise, the ten thousand dollar sign popped up under the winning number indicating she had a winning ticket. That was a month ago. Karissa finally decided to cash in today. Here is what she told us.

“I have not been playing long. My husband is usually the one who plays. I randomly buy numbers every other day or two, not even two days. Rarely should I say.”

“It was the evening before; I had bought two tickets, dollar, dollar. Didn’t change the ticket right away, I went the following day. I asked the lady to give me two more dollar ticket. The one I wanted she didn’t want to give me it at first. So then afterwards I told her it is not that one it is this kind I wanted. That is how I got this lucky ticket.”

“You got the ticket and you are at home. Tell us what was happening when you decided to scratch the ticket?”

“I was at home talking to my other half who was at the States at the time and I began scratching the ticket and noticed I had number thirteen with the number. Then I scratched the amount to see how much it was. When I saw it was ten thousand, I told him and he was like you can’t be serious. I am like, yes. He asked to switch to video call. We did that and we was like wow, just don’t tell anyone. Keep it a secret.”

Karissa says she will use the money for her child’s educational expenses.
