Challenger responds to boxer McLaren
Yesterday you met Murphy McLaren who will be challenging Norman “Papi Pote” Orosco in this weekend’s fight at Birds Isle. Today it is Orosco’s turn to tell you what you can expect from the match. Although it is just an exhibition match, as you will notice, Orosco and his trainer are not planning to pull any punches.
James Adderley
“This big fight comes up at the big Birds Isle. In our last program we featured none other than the current Junior Middleweight Champion of Belize Murphy McLaren. We meet his opposition going into the big Birds Isle on April twenty fifth. It’s a rumble in the jungle. It’s a fight between the northside and the southside – a battle for supremacy. On the other angle we have Norman “Papi Pote” Orosco a 3-time Golden Glove Champion.”
Norman “Papi Pote” Orosco, Boxer
“This is the fist of truth!”
Q: “This is the battle for supremacy between the north and south sides, how does that fit into your particular ideas?
Norman “Papi Pote” Orosco
“It says for one thing, it’s a ship and the ship needs a captain. Jump aboard, come in from the cold; I am the captain and I will bring it in from all the storm. There is a fighting machine aboard this ship and I am captain of the ship.”

“Yesterday Murphy McLaren insisted that he has what it takes to allow you the 10 or so pounds over the weight limit and still take you out.”
Norman “Papi Pote” Orosco
“I give him the respect that he recognizes that pounds have nothing to do with skills but on that day we will clash skill for skill, pound for pound.”
J.A.
“We don’t want to talk strategy but with the obvious weight advantage it leads to an obvious strength advantage.”
Norman “Papi Pote” Orosco
“We won’t fight with strength, we will fight with class, quality, like computerized. We will demonstrate so much skill. Just bring it on and we will carry it all the way.”
“Bullet” Craig, Trainer
“So McLaren going to be in big trouble; we have “Papi Pote” ready for 10 rounds. You see the man’s potential with his left and right hooks. On Sunday please come out because McLaren is finished. He has been hanging on too long as a champion and we’re gonna sting him hard. This is only an exhibition but we’re gonna knock him out.”
Channel Five will be broadcasting the match live from Birds Isle beginning at ten thirty on Sunday morning.
