Teakettle murderer gets death penalty
Two years ago Patrick Reyes of Teakettle Village reportedly took out his shotgun and killed his next door neighbors Wayne and Evelyn Garbutt over a small strip of land which divided their homes. Reyes and Garbutt were cousins. Last Friday after almost seven hours of deliberation, a twelve-member jury found Reyes guilty of the double homicide in April of 1997. He was sentenced to death by hanging by Trial Judge Acting Justice Wilfred Elrington. Reyes now becomes the eighth prisoner on death row in the maximum security area of the Hattieville Prison.
