It has been there for decades offering confidential international services to solve crime and now Crime Stoppers Belize is embarking on new initiatives and is appealing to the public to use a new app to report crime. Lauren Smith of Crime Stoppers Belize explained to us how the service works.

“Crime Stoppers offers this unique opportunity that they can report who the troublemakers are in their neighborhood and who the threats are, to Crime Stoppers and we offer this opportunity where they can report anonymously. Through the P3-TIPS app, you download it from either the Play Store or from the App Store, put it on your phone. You can send pictures, you can send text messages. It’s an international app, so you could be in Belize and you have information about a crime that took place in Jamaica or in Miami and you can send your tip directly to Jamaica or Miami. If you’re in Belize and you know something that took place in Belmopan or PG or Belize City, you can send it. It’s not – it’s completely secure. You can’t track it but yet you can communicate with us via this international app, so if we need more information or if you want to send more information afterwards, you can do that through this app.”
