Arrest made in U.S. veteran’s death
The man, who led C.I.B. officials to the remains of sixty-two year old Fredrick Hopkins, the U.S. veteran who was reported missing since April first, was today handcuffed and escorted over to Magistrate’s Court where he was officially charged with the murder of the elderly man. Edwardo Martinez, who is known as “Jeffrey Son” is reported to have made calls to Hopkins’ house last week telling a friend of the deceased and his wife that he was sorry for what he had done. The body was found on Thursday near Bermudian Landing in an advanced state of decomposition. The motive for the killing is not yet known, but a postmortem conducted at the scene of the crime revealed Hopkins died from severe head injuries caused by a blunt instrument. Martinez has been remanded to Hattieville Prison until May seventeenth when he is scheduled to reappear in Magistrate’s Court.
