Ahmadiyya Women Pampering Other Women Free of Cost
The women members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim community will spend Saturday pampering other women at their mosque at one and a half miles George Price Highway in Belize City. It’s all a part of International Women’s Day activities from March eighth. The event will be open to only women, and participants are also invited to sell their food or desserts. One of the organizers of the event, Khadijah Hassan, shared with us what free services women will be able to receive at the event.

“It’s a women’s only event and we’re going to be having some free services for the women to give them a chance to do self-care and pampering. We have henna, which is a new thing in Belize. We have henna, we have nail-painting, we have eye-brow threading – maybe I can use that (chuckles) and we’ll have food stalls. We’ll be having some desserts too. It’s to empower women and give them a chance to show support to each other, you know. We are not competing with each other. Sometimes that seems to be what is the takeaway. “Oh, I can’t get along with she.” Well we’re not about that. We’re about getting along with each other. Love for all and hatred for none is our motto and we live by it.”
