Education Funding to Increase

Minister of Education, Francis Fonseca says G.O.B.’s investment in education has increased by thirteen million dollars in the 2022-2023 Budget. The Leader of the Opposition had argued that the education budget was reduced. But Minister Fonseca rebutted, suggesting Barrow is not comfortable with figures and should take some beginner classes in economics.

“It is really like a corpse performing its own self examination. How in the world could you come to this national assembly and cry and bemoan the challenges this county is facing when only a little over a year ago your party was in power for over a decade. So, it is an admission of the absolute failure and neglect and incompetence of your own party that you have come here today to present evidence and testimony for. In addition to that, the Leader of the Opposition, I think we have known this for some time, but I think we have established this today. He is not very comfortable with figures, or economic policy. The point I am making member, for your benefit, is that you really should get a 101 class. In just reading the budget book, it is very important for you to understand what is stated in the budget book and what it means. Sir and the budget, the Capital budget for education was increased by thirteen million. You don’t understand and that is the point I am making. You are looking at recurrent expenditure but you haven’t bothered to look at capital expenditure. There is recurrent expenditure. There is Capital two, there is Capital expenditure. If you look at the whole picture you will see we are adequately funding every sector of the economy.”
