Malic’s family asks killer to confess

Story Picture
The death of a child is never easy to bear, and if that child was plucked from her family in a brutal, inexplicable way, the sorrow is even greater. But the relatives of young Jackie Fern Malic whose story by now is familiar to everyone are not only dealing with her death, but the widespread rumors and speculations about her character. Today Jackie’s family invited News Five into their home to talk about the little girl they miss so much. And while they declined to comment on whether they believe the man police have charged with her rape, torture and murder is guilty, they say whoever is responsible needs to come clean and confess what he has done. Hyacinth Latchman reports.

As her favorite dress, uniform and an Easter basket, she never got the opportunity to open, lie on the kitchen table, the family of twelve year old Jackie Fern Malic continues to mourn for her.

Fabiana Scott, Aunt

“We can’t even explain how it affects us, but it is affecting us every, every day. Especially when we hear about terrible things it affects us. When we are trying to get back calm we hear terrible things that is even worst with these terrible things that they are saying about Jackie.”

Scott, who is Jackie’s aunt and godmother, says that the child was not only pleasant but very obedient and caring. She helped to raise Jackie and the two were as close as mother and daughter.

Fabiana Scott

“As I know Jackie, I know her as a loving person. A couple years ago my brother died and a couple months after I got ill. And when I got ill I dropped down and when I dropped down all I heard was Jackie crying, “Mom don’t leave me because dad just left me. And now you are going to die who is going to assist me who is going to mind me?” The ambulance took me to the hospital and the words were always in my head what Jackie was crying out to say.”

Scott says people have commented on Jackie going to school with money, but she believes the cash came from family members who wanted to help her out.

Fabiana Scott

“From I know Jackie as a little girl growing up, I have kids that are working and my daughter always gave Jackie money. Always was giving Jackie money because she was a willing little girl at home. Anybody could ask Jackie to go out for them. I met an old person yesterday he came to me and he was crying. He said I don’t have anybody to give me money because when my mother would send Jackie out she always took my mother’s change and gave this man money up the street.”

As the days pass and the family continues to miss a child they love so much they are just hoping that whoever is responsible for her brutal death will find it in his heart to confess.

Fabiana Scott

“I leave everything in God’s hands. God is going to take care of him believe me. I know that God will take care of it. Right now from the bottom of my heart I wish God would touch that person. I pray for that; that that person will confess everything that this child is an innocent person. The things that they are saying about her are not true.”

Hyacinth Latchman for News Five.

Police have charged mechanic Michael Williams with Malic’s abduction and murder last month. The family says even though police say they have evidence Williams was a family friend, they maintain, as they have from the day her body was discovered, that he never was.
