Case dismissed against 2 officers accused of drug trafficking
It was described by many as a case of “Good Cops Gone Bad”. In June of 1997 police claimed that two police officers posted in Corozal ran a road block in Ladyville and tossed five kilos of cocaine and 34 thousand dollars in U.S. currency out of their pickup truck. The truck was later found abandoned on the Lord’s Bank Road. A manhunt was launched for Sergeant Luciano Noh and Corporal Luis Hill. They were taken into custody a few days later. Today the pair and their attorney Simeon Sampson, however, are rejoicing since their case was dismissed in court. According to Sampson, who had filed a no case submission, the judge threw out the case for lack of evidence since none of the police officers who appeared in court could positively identify either Noh or Hill as being in the Nissan pick-up that night or throwing anything out of the window. Luis Hill told News Five while they are happy to be exonerated, their reputations have been destroyed by the unfounded allegations. They are hoping now that they have been cleared that their lives will get back to normal.
