Kidnapping Report Being Investigated in O.W.
Police are investigating reports of an attempted abduction in Orange Walk over the weekend. Police say the alleged victim visited a police station claiming he had just escaped from a brightly colored vehicle. This detail has caused police to question his story. They are, however, seeking two people for questioning.
ASP Fitzroy Yearwood, Communications Director, Belize Police Department
“We know that sometime, a man Jose Medina, thirty-three years alleged that he was kidnapped in a yellow Ford Escape on Sparrow Street. He also claimed that he managed to escape from them, made his way to the station and made a report. I know that officers are looking for one person; Kenneth Williams Jr. of San Francisco Street that they believe could shed some light on this, and one Rigoberto Garcia also of Orange Walk Town. The thing is that we are trying to make sure that this is a credible report before we put out any other details. It is very strange that a vehicle, a yellow Ford Escape would be very rare in Belize. The occupants of that vehicle would be daring enough to kidnap someone and allow that person to escape from them. The color alone would raise a whole lot of alarms.”

“Does the report received suggest that these persons being sought may have been directly involved?”
ASP Fitzroy Yearwood
“So far, this person that alleged he was kidnapped has identified them as two of the possible assailants. So as soon as we interview these two persons we would know which direction this investigation would go.”
