Accident in Corozal Claims Two Lives, Causes Multiple Injuries
One vehicle overtaking another on the highway has lead to two deaths over the weekend in the Corozal District. Police say thirteen people were travelling in a van in the Louisville Village area when a van with a Dangriga license plate carrying three passengers tried to overtake them. In the process the vans collided, leaving several passengers with multiple injuries. Steve Grant and Ariana Chan later died at the hospital.

“We do have a deceased from each vehicle. The lady that sustained injuries and passed away from the van, we know that Steve Grant, sorry, passed away from the Dangriga license plate van where he suffered head and body injuries. He passed away around eleven thirty-five while receiving treatment at the Corozal community hospital. I know from the Corozal van, we had an elderly lady that passed away. Ariana Chan was complaining of pain all over her body and passed away around ten p.m. while receiving treatment also at the Corozal Community Hospital. They have established that the cause of this accident is the van with the Dangriga license plate was overtaking the other van at that time when it collided into the Corozal license plate van. Meaning, the front van may have swerved, or he may have swerved into it. But, the point is he is the one that initiated contact because he was overtaking.”
