Police Youth Corps holds sports day
The Police Youth Corps is holding two days of sporting events at the M.C.C. Grounds. The event has the participation of children and instructors from all districts. Superintendent Yolanda Murray told News Five why they brought all the youth corps members together.
Supt. Yolanda Murray
“For the youth corps to get to know one another. We find that they meet once a year when we have the annual youth corps camp. We have never had a sports day for them. This is something they practice each week when they have their meetings. They do sports; they do drills. There are various things that they do. So we thought that it would be nice for them to come together and compete with each other and get to know each other more.
I feel almost certain that they try to choose some of them that are talented in sports. And here in Belize you find that the youth corps members here and instructors are hosting the teams from the various districts to see that they have somewhere to stay and food to eat.”
Murray says that the sports council has been helping them in this venture by finding places for the district participants to stay.
