Pageant, fairs and more this weekend

Story PictureIt is a weekend packed with fun activities from north to south, including a pageant with a different flavour, fairs, a golden oldie to do and much more so listen up for Safiyyah’s line-up…

Hey I’m Safiyyah and this is What’s Happening Belize and there is plenty to do this weekend.

Miss African Queen International Pageant will be held inside the Bliss this Saturday night. There will be seven Belizean daughters of Africa vying for that title that will entertain you all night. They are inviting everyone to come out and even dress in your individual cultural attire. Reserve tickets are twenty dollars for adults and ten dollars for children and general tickets are fifteen dollars for adults and five dollars for children.

Also on Saturday Wesley College will be having their second annual fair on the school campus. There will be lots to eat and drink as well as lots of fun games. They will even have two dancehalls; one for the kids and one for the teens. This fair will run from four-thirty till eleven p.m.

Sacred Heart College in Cayo will also be having a fair this Saturday on their school Campus. They invite everyone out to see their dog show and horse show and even a dunking booth. This fair will begin at nine a.m. and run all day long. There will be lots of food and drinks on sale.

Up north in Orange Walk there will be two events this Saturday night to look out for. The first is a Cultural explosion being presented by the Orange Walk B.N.T.U. This event being held under the theme “Many Cultures, One Love” will feature singing, cultural dancing, drama and a presentation by Romey Plunkett and Elizabeth Tate. The admission is five dollars. It will begin at six p.m. inside the Crystal Palace.

Another big one to look out for Saturday night in O.W. is 80’s night part two being presented by the Orange Walk Rotaract Club. This fun night will have lots of entertainment as well as prizes and surprises. There will be hits from the 80’s playing all night long. It’s all happening inside the Multiplex Complex. The Happy hour will run from eight p.m. to nine p.m. Dress in 80’s wear and win big prizes. It’s for a good cause.

Another good cause you can help support this weekend is the Wish Foundation’ yard sale on Saturday. This yard sale will be held at ground zero, corner Queen Street and North Front Street, and will run from eight am until one p.m. So go out and buy as much goodies as you can and help support the Wish Foundation scholarship fund.
