Police question Williams’ attorney
Hours before the police press conference rumors were flying that the attorney for Mike Williams, Kirk Anderson, might himself be arrested. According to Assistant Inspector Eli Salazar, who went to Anderson’s office this morning, William’s common-law wife Julie Staine claims that Anderson told her to get rid of clothing Williams was wearing when first detained by police.
A.I.P. Eli Salazar
“During our investigations yesterday with the death of Jackie Malic we received information from the common-law-wife of Michael Williams, Ms. Julie Staine that she received a call from Kirk Anderson, attorney for Michael Williams, informing her to dispose of some clothes that we were going to search for at her residence which were suppose to be evidence in the case against Michael Williams in the case of Jackie Malic.
As a result of that we saw it fit to question Mr. Anderson about it. We did not ask him any question pertaining to what his client told him. But as far as we see it and if he did that then we strongly believe that he is working with Mr. Michael Williams to cover up this crime of murder against Jackie Malic. As a result of that we are considering very seriously bringing charges against Mr. Kirk Anderson.
We have since obtain the clothes from her residence right now and it is in police custody now.”
Q: “Any visible blood stains on it? Anything you can comment on right now?”
Eli Salazar
“We need to take it to the forensics; they will be the ones to comment on that.”
Kirk Anderson told News Five that if Salazar believes he has a case against him he would prefer he put it in writing and take it before the court. Anderson says that whatever he and his clients discuss is confidential. However, Commissioner Brooks says client privilege does not extend to the obstruction of justice or the destruction of evidence and they are still looking into the matter to determine if Anderson will be facing charges. Brooks also said that Williams, not Julie, is Kirk Anderson’s client.
