Fire Consumes Docked Boat in Caye Caulker
A vessel docked at a pier in Caye Caulker went up in flames overnight and investigators are yet to determine the cause of the fire. It happened just before midnight at Blue Wave Pier where a Cabin Cruiser Bertram boat was moored. When fire officials were summoned to the location they discovered the thirty-eight foot vessel engulfed in flames. When they spoke with Gerald Pacheco, who owns the Blue Wave Pier, he told them that the owner of the boat was a businessman from Ladyville. He further stated that the boat had been secured at his pier over a month and a half. When police interviewed Joey Pacheco, he told them that he had made checks on the boat around five p.m. that evening and that the vessel was properly tied and secured. The value of the boat is yet to be determined.
