PM Reaction to New U.D.P. Leader…

At its first opportunity to interview the P.M. since Shyne Barrow was elected as the new leader of the United Democratic Party, the media asked for his reaction to the razor-thin victory. Prime Minister John Briceño was curt in his response, saying it doesn’t really matter.

“I wish him well and I think I want to leave it at that. I don’t want to interfere in their internal politics and let’s leave it at that.”

“Sir but we know that in every democracy, we need a healthy, a strong opposition. Do you feel that with Shyne as the leader we’ll get that?”
