“As you know we’ve formed for quite sometime and one of the things we believe will keep us together is having some activities for the kids like the musical instruments. So we contacted the Governor General’s Office and asked if there was anyway they could assist us to help us with the kids and they assured us that if something comes up they will keep us in mind. They had because here we are with these instruments. And I think we will utilize them to the best of our ability and help to keep some of the kids off the street.
You have to be a member of the Police Youth Corps and we have taken kids from schools and different districts and villages who are presently in the youth corp. And so we train these kids here and if they want to become a member and have the qualities of musical abilities then definitely they will be a member of the band corp.”
The band meets at the Raccoon Street Police Station every Saturday from nine in the morning until two in the afternoon. The instruments donated this morning cost over two thousand dollars.
