Lawyers Send Letter to Leader of the Opposition Regarding Comments Made About Prime Minister
The law firm of Coye Courtenay L.L.P. has sent a letter to the Leader of the Opposition demanding he retract and apologize for defamatory comments made about Prime Minister John Briceño on a Tropical Vision talk show. The letter provides a transcript of the exchange between Moses “Shyne” Barrow and the host of Uncut. The letter says that Barrow made “outrageous, scandalous and highly defamatory statements and innuendoes against our client”. They are asking that Barrow cease any republication of the video, cause an immediate retraction to be aired on Channel 7’s newscast as well as retract and apologize on all social media platforms on which it was distributed, including Facebook. The Prime Minister’s attorneys are also seeking one hundred thousand dollars in damages for the injury caused to Mr. Briceño’s reputation. If the above is not carried out, Coye and Courtenay say they will begin legal proceedings. A similar letter was also sent to Tropical Vision. News Five would like to note that while the law firm requests that an apology be made on both Channels Seven and Five. Channel Five did not air any portion of the interview in question, nor did Barrow make any similar comments on any program or social media outlet of Channel Five.
