B.T.L. inaugurates an updated switch in Belmopan

B.T.L. celebrated the completion of its switch modernization project in Belmopan today. The upgrade is part of a countrywide project which started in Belize City in 1998. B.T.L. says the D.M.S. 100 Super Node Switch runs on updated software and is the most up-to-date in the region. According to B.T.L., among the benefits of the D.M.S. 100 are its capacity to facilitate voice mail, additional custom calling features, caller line identification and automatic redial and call back services. Minister of Communications Maxwell Samuels, B.T.L. Chairwoman Lisa Shoman and B.T.L.’s C.E.O. Edilberto Tesecum were on hand for the official cut over of the switch this morning. In related news, B.T.L. says it has completed an earth station for its Internet expansion project. The company says they now have four times their previous capacity and Internet congestion should be alleviated.
