Accused murderer caught on Gales Point beach

Story Picture
Two days after twenty one year old Andrew “Outlaw” or “Sweetie Law” Kelly escaped from police lock up at the Raccoon Street Police Station, the alleged killer of businesswoman, Yang Li Chan, was handcuffed and escorted over to the Magistrate’s Court. According to Ornel Brooks, the Commissioner of Police, Kelly managed to escape due to the negligence of three policemen and the assistance of former inmates.

Ornel Brooks, Commissioner of Police

“There was a chain system that has to be locked pretty tight and the officers who were in charge that night after booking three people just after two a.m., did not secure the cell gate properly. And as a result and with the assistance of other inmates, this guy was able to pull the door and escape.”

Q: “How did you manage to recapture Mr. Kelly?”

Ornel Brooks

“Again we had our intelligence network set up right across the country and based upon intelligence, the Dangriga police in collaboration with members of our Crimes Investigations Branch, visited Gales Point late afternoon on Friday last. Mr. Kelly was observed relaxing on the beach there and our plain clothes officers in disguise crept up on him and stopped his celebration.”

The three police officers have been interdicted from duty pending the outcome of their case. Kelly was formally charged with murder, attempted murder, dangerous harm, use of deadly means of harm, robbery and conspiracy to commit murder. He has been remanded to Hattieville Prison until April sixteenth.

Meanwhile during an operation on Sunday, the police captured twenty-four year old Michael Raymond Usher. Usher, who was caught on Wagner’s Lane, was escorted across to Magistrate’s Court along with Edward Westby and Roque Rosado to be charged with the murder of shopkeeper Miguel Aguilar. Police found Aguilar lying in a pool of blood inside his shop on Wednesday March seventeenth. The elderly man was gagged and bound and had been hit across the head with two cement blocks. Usher, Westby and Rosado have all been charged with murder, conspiracy to commit murder and conspiracy to commit burglary. All three have been remanded to Hattieville Prison until April twenty seventh.
