Belizeans honored for their cultural efforts
The Minister of Education has recognized twenty-one people for their contributions to the promotion of African, Mayan and Mestizo cultural awareness in Belize. Permanent Secretary Dr. Dorian Barrow says the government has committed itself to revolutionizing education in Belize and one of the priority areas is the creation of instructional materials about our multi-cultural history. Those being recognized are: Leo Bradley Sr., Dr. Angel Cal, Roy Cayetano, Julian Cho (posthumously), Dame Minita Gordon, Fr. Charles Hunter S.J., Evan X Hyde, Dr. Joseph Iyo, Lita Hunter Krohn, Myrna Manzanares, Wawat Napata, Brother David Obi, Dr. Joseph Palacio, Myrtle Palacio, Inez Sanchez, Captain Nicholas Sanchez, Ismail Omar Shabazz, and Silvana Woods.
