Police Will Be Watching for Law Breakers
As you go out to enjoy the Easter weekend, the police department will be working to safe guard the public. Officers will be patrolling our highways and byways looking out for reckless drivers, human smugglers, and drug traffickers. This is a part of the Police Department’s Easter Weekend crime fighting strategy. Commissioner of Police Chester Williams told us more.
Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
“I want to ensure the Belizean people that from a law enforcement stand point we will do what we can to ensure crime and violence remains at minimal during the Easter holiday. We will see increased police presence on the highway doing what we refer to as road policing. Road policing encapsulates every aspect of policing, not only traffic, even though I am a bit disturbed by the amount of fatal traffic accidents we are having. We have been on the highways doing checkpoints, giving flyers to people, warning people but some drivers just don’t take heed. Fatal accidents are too numerous now. We are going to continue to do what we can to minimize these accidents as well as the occurrences of any type of crime on our highways, also focusing on human trafficking, firearm trafficking and drug trafficking.”
