Elderly shopkeeper murdered
Just two days after a Chinese woman was fatally injured by a robber’s bullet, a seventy-one year old shopkeeper was tied up and beaten to death with a blunt instrument. According to police after a report from an area resident shortly before eleven p.m. last night they dispatched a team to number ten Barnett Street in Port Loyola. They found Miguel Aguilar in the lower flat lying in a pool of blood apparently dead. They say that Aguilar’s hands and feet were tied together with a telephone cord and there was something stuffed in his mouth. Dr. Mario Estradabran was at the scene and pronounced Aguilar dead on the spot. A postmortem at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital revealed that Aguilar died from brain hemorrhage due to skull trauma. The two-story building had been ransacked and police say they believe that the culprit or culprits were looking for money. They have detained two men for questioning, but so far no one has been charged in connection with the incident.
