Miss Earth Talks Climate Change in Barranco

Today, Miss Earth 2021 Destiny Wagner headed to Punta Gorda and will be in Barranco Village in Toledo on Saturday. In collaboration with the Belize Tourism Board, Wagner will be giving back to the community and school where she grew up, while shedding light on the situation on the ground. She spoke briefly about the event.

“I think that one of the most important things when it comes to the fight with climate change is education and that it’s started young. So, I’m very happy to go back to one of villages that I grew up in and to go to the school that I went to and to distribute bag packs because in those communities in the villages, they don’t really have access to as many opportunities or resources. So, as Miss Earth, I feel like it’s my duty to go back to my roots and give back and influence and inspire.”

“Come together! You may feel helpless as an individual, but together you and a friend, and your friend have a friend, and their friend has a friend, when you come together and when we come together, there is nothing that we can’t do. And, at the end of the day, it takes more than an individual to save the world. It takes a community effort, a country’s effort, and every country’s effort.”
