Trees Planted in Maya Mopan for Earth Day

Pathlight Belize, in collaboration with Belize Audubon Society, the Belmopan City Council, the Scouts Belmopan Chapter and the Department of Environment, implemented this year’s World Earth Day Initiative. Working together, they planted forty-five mahogany trees at the Maya Mopan Park in Toledo. According to a release from Pathlight, the trees are an expression of patriotism and civic pride and the park is an ideal location for families and children to enjoy a “green space” for sporting and recreational activities. The N.G.O. says the tree planting promotes their collective vision of having a “Green Belize” that supports sustainable human development.
