Baron Bliss Day activities announced

Story Picture
Everyone is looking forward to a three-day weekend but you don’t have to leave Belize City to enjoy yourself this year. Or, if you are going out of town you may want to come back in on Monday and check out the action at the Fort Point. According to Francisco Leiva of People at Work Enterprises, besides official ceremonies and the harbor regatta, there will be food, children’s games, and music provided by bands such as Rick the Ruler and Santino’s Messengers.

“You don’t have to be a boat person to come out; you go to the park; you like DJ music you go to the small park. Rick the Ruler is going to be mashing it out there. You want something carnivalish you go to the steel band. So it’s everything there. And for the sport fans we have a lot of them in Belize. The official ceremonies of the Baron Bliss laying of the wreath and stuff begins at 8 a.m., it’s going to be right at the Baron Bliss memorial tomb. And after that just get the party rolling. The boat racing is scheduled to begin at eleven. When the boat racing begins the steel band will jam. At twelve o’clock Santino’s will be mashing up the spot.”

Leiva says a few spaces are still available for businesses wishing to participate in Monday’s festival. He can be contacted at 72433 or 75909. He is urging everyone to come out and enjoy the races and the music.
