Four arrested for sexual assaults
While they are disturbed by the recent number of sexual assaults against children and young women, police say they are heartened that the victims are now starting to come forward. As a result of such courage, police made four arrests this week. Today the offenders were taken to court. News Five was there.
The men, handcuffed and under heavy guard appeared calm as they were escorted to the Magistrate’s Court to face charges that range from rape to indecent assault. Roy Gabourel, Joseph Kingsly, Daniel Morgan and Henry “Loverboy” Lewis were arrested for four separate sexual crimes that involved girls between the ages of twelve and seventeen years old and a young woman of twenty-four.
A.I.P. Simeon Alvarez, Head of C.I.B.
“On the first of March, the mother of a 12 year old child came to the office and reported that her father, one Roy Gabourel on the 28th of February this child was in his company heading towards home after watching a basketball game sometime around eleven p.m. And in that process while on the Northern Highway somewhere around mile five he drove off into a feeder road and there he started to interfere with this child by zipping off his pants and taking off the little girl’s underwear and placed the little girl on his lap.
A seventeen year old girl, she came to the office and that sometime around noon, she was at home when a cousin of hers by the name of Joseph Kingsly visited her home in a burgundy color pickup and forced his way into the house and forced her on a bed and attempted to have sexual intercourse with her. Immediately she contacted her boyfriend and as a matter of fact she made a phone call to the Magistrate where the Magistrate direct her to come and make an official report.”
C.I.B.’s Inspector Alvarez says the third incident was reported by a 24 year old woman who was in her bedroom in the Caesar Ridge area when Daniel Morgan reportedly entered her house and raped her. The arrest of Henry “Loverboy” Lewis is in connection with an incident that took place two months ago in San Ignacio Hotel. Today Lewis was charged with rape after a fifteen year old minor reported that sometime during the night Lewis raped her and several female friends. Alvarez says the Criminal Investigation Branch has been encouraged by the number of reports on sexual abuse that have been forthcoming.

“Definitely and I am very happy with that, that now the people are coming in with complaints as they are being reported. As a matter of fact we are now looking for one Erik Estrada from Hopkins Village. A thirteen year old minor she had to actually run away from home after complaining to her grandmother, her mother is now deceased, telling her that her cousin Erik Estrada in the night, he actually walk in his sleep and interfere with this child.”
Alvarez says police are cognizant of the fact that sometimes people, in an act of revenge, would make false reports so they carefully investigate each sexual abuse report that is made. In this latest series of arrests, Alvarez says all victims were examined by doctors.
