Eight year old hit by car

A little girl is in the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital after being knocked down this afternoon by a sixteen year old driver. According to police reports at about twelve forty-five this afternoon Jody Burgess was driving a car with a California license plate along Mahogany Street heading towards the Government Administrative Complex. As Burgess reached the corner of Flamboyant Street he reportedly hit eight year old Ranisha Lamb. The child was taken to K.H.M.H. in an unconscious state. According to Burgess the little girl was walking backwards on the street but police say that they are looking for an eyewitness to confirm Burgess’ story. Burgess says he has a California driver’s license, but has yet to produce it. At newstime, no charges had been filed.
