Fausto Teck is Arraigned for Murder
Fausto Teck was arraigned on a single charge of murder this morning, in the San Ignacio Magistrate’s Court for the stabbing death of Chris Rodriguez. Today, family and friends of the deceased gathered near Columbus Park across from the police station, which houses the court on the second floor. Cell phone footage sent to News Five captured the twenty-year-old Belizean caretaker as he was escorted down the steps of the court and into the station. Those gathered jeered at the accused murderer, who has since been remanded to the Belize Central Prison in Hattieville until August third. The deadly stabbing occurred on Tuesday, May third during an altercation between Teck and the deceased. Rodriguez, who is a well-known footballer, was along with his cousin at the Norman Broaster Stadium in San Ignacio when Teck asked them to leave the stadium because they couldn’t produce a receipt which gave them permission to use the sporting facility. Amateur video captured Rodriguez punching Teck to the face. A fight ensued during which Rodriguez was stabbed twice; he died at the Western Regional Hospital in the wee hours of Wednesday.
