Man freed of Robbery; still remanded for previous charge

Story PictureAlso in Magistrates’ Court, a man who was sentenced two weeks ago to eight years imprisonment for two counts of Robbery managed to win a case today in which he was facing the same charge for a different incident. Nineteen year old Burley Card won the case today when the complainant, twenty-two year old Giles Usher requested no further court action. Consequently the charge was dismissed. Usher, a messenger for Alliance Bank, reported to police that he was standing on Plues Street when he felt something cold at the back of his head around seven-thirty on the night of July twentieth, 2007. Usher said when he turned around he saw a man on a bicycle holding a pistol to his head and that a second man appeared and pointed another gun at his chest and both attackers then robbed him of his licensed nine millimeter pistol worth around two thousand six hundred dollars and fifteen live rounds of ammunition. Usher said the men also stole his cell phone and a hundred and seventy-five dollars then rode off. Card was detained four days later. The second suspect was never arrested.
