Prison guard charged with Theft
A prison officer, who is also a former B.D.F. soldier, was formally charged with Theft in Magistrates’ Court today after he allegedly stole a wallet containing nine hundred dollars. Twenty-nine year old Shedrack Martinez pleaded not guilty to the charge and was offered and met bail of fifteen hundred dollars. His case was adjourned until April seventeenth. The incident occurred on Monday, February twenty-third. According to twenty-six year old Alton Murray, a bus conductor of Dangriga reported to police that he slept overnight at Martinez’ residence at thirty-five Vernon Street and when he woke the next day his wallet was gone. Murray said that aside from the money, the wallet also had identification cards and other documents. After police conducted investigations, they arrested Martinez on Wednesday.
