B.N.T.U. Says Zero Tolerance for Teacher Abuse

The Belize National Teachers Union, in the wake of an emotional social media post shared by a distraught primary school teacher, has issued a statement on an incident that recently took place at St. Luke Methodist School.  B.N.T.U. says it will ensure that an investigation is conducted into the allegations made by Joanna Ysaguirre and that the inquiry will be carried out in a manner that safeguards due process.  According to the release, the Education Amendment Rules 2012, allow for the sanctioning of managements and the disciplining of administrators, despite the blatant atrocities brought against teachers by some managements and administrators and that the Ministry of Education has failed enforce the rules.  A press conference with B.N.T.U. President, Senator Elena Smith has been called for Thursday afternoon.  We will keep following this story.
