More Projects to Come on Stream through Resilient Rural Belize Program

Servulo Baeza

As you heard, the Nago Bank Road is the first of several projects under the Resilient Rural Belize program of the Ministry of Economic Development. It’s a multi-ministerial approach that looks at not only climate resilient infrastructure being put in place, but also improving the lives of agro-producing communities across the country. Areas in the north, west, and south are next in line to see millions of dollars in upgrades to access roads.

Servulo Baeza, C.E.O., Ministry of Agriculture

“There is so much work that needs to be done. I can add that right now we are working in this area in Nago Bank. After this we have some roads in Valley of Peace; there are some roads in Valley of Peace and there’s also the roads for San Carlos/Indian Church that we will be working on.  So those are the three main areas we are working on this year.”

The Cow Pen habanero farmers – they are actually the ones that produce the habanero for Marie Sharp so their products is all around the world. And Trio farmers and then San Jose, all the way in Toledo.”

“By when can we see these come on stream?”

Dr. Osmond Martinez

“We will see a few coming this year, but we are planning to complete all these projects within a three-year period.”
