B.N.T.U. to Work With Methodist Management to Investigate Claims

Senator Elena Smith

The B.N.T.U. has pledged to work closely with the management of the Methodist schools to get to the bottom of the situation. Senator Smith says that if the zero tolerance policy should be implemented against bullying, it should begin with enforcement from the Ministry of Education.

Senator Elena Smith, President, B.N.T.U.

“The bishop, as you all know, gave an interview and the bishop has informed that they will be conducting their internal investigation and we will be liaising with him and his team at the end of their investigation to see what it is that we would be able to assist with as a union, because at the end of the day what must be understood is that these teachers have a right to come to their union. They don’t have to go to their managements first. If it is that we are truly serious about stopping, bringing an end to this bullying, to this abuse of power that some management and administrators have over their teachers then we will see that the ministry would seriously look at dealing with these persons. I must say, as we’ve said before and we are not generalizing, we have some very good principals and we have some good managements.”
