COVID 19 Positive Cases Continue to Rise
The number of active COVID-19 cases continues to spiral upwards. Today, the Ministry of Health and Wellness reported a total of one hundred and ninety eight newly confirmed cases. These are cases identified over the weekend, between the twenty-first and twenty-third of May. The Ministry of Health and Wellness says it continues to encourage Belizeans to avoid large gatherings. If a person so wishes to attend an event, M.O.H.W. advices that you seek first to ensure the event is taking place outdoors where transmission is limited. And though not mandated, the ministry is also encouraging the use of masks and social distancing. As of June first, only the Johnson and Johnson vaccines will be available in country, as the Pfizer vaccines will expire at the end of the month. M.O.H.W. says it encourages persons twelve years and older to get vaccinated as soon as they can. We continue to monitor this new wave of infections.
