Continental shares profits

Story Picture
Mercedes Carillo may have a new car, but the twenty-five employees of Continental Airlines also got something a little extra today. Thirty thousand dollars in company profits was shared among the employees of the Belize Branch this morning. The checks represent approximately six point seven percent of the employees’ annual wages. On hand to distribute the checks to the employees was General Manager, Kim Aikman.

Kim Aikman, General Manager

“It has always been the goal of the company that whenever we make a profit we’ll take a percentage of it to the employees. However, in the fifty-seven or sixty years that Continental has been operating it has been virtually impossible because of the airline industry we’ve never been able to enjoy a profit.”

Q: “For the employees what’s the feedback you’re getting from them?”

Kim Aikman

“It’s great. I mean, everybody likes extra money in their pockets. The employees feel wanted; they feel appreciated and all their hard work paid off. And, everybody is extremely happy to be getting extra dollars.”

Sharette Young, Reservations Manager

“Speaking on behalf of the staff, we are very, very pleased and happy to be recognized for our hard efforts.”

On June third Continental Airlines, the fifth largest airline in the United States, will celebrate eleven years of operation in Belize. Continental is distributing eighty-six million U.S. dollars to forty thousand employees worldwide. This is the third year the company has been able to pay these benefits to its employees.
