Heavenly Gospel Band releases video
Six years ago a group of young Belizean Christians got together and formed the Heavenly Gospel Band. Today, the band, which plays mostly contemporary Caribbean music, has released its first video production. According to Gilbert Gordon, the band’s manager, the video was produced by Deanna’s Production in New York. The song, titled, “I Am A Christian” is based on a religious experience of Bert Brooks, the band’s lead vocalist and songwriter.

“My personal feeling about the music video is that I am very proud about the band itself because of the unity that we have and the troubles that we went through and now that, I mean we are standing up firm serving the Lord and all that.”
Bert Brooks, Lead Vocalist/Songwriter
“I was going through some struggles and I was working out of town; I was working in a remote village. You know I still used to sing a lot. I used to travel back and forth to the band and I was working one day and it just came to me. The Lord just lay it on me and I started writing and I brought it back to the group and we started looking at the words and message. The message is based on my life and what I have been through because my dad is a pastor. He is a pastor but I have not always been a Christian. There was a time that I slipped back. The song talks all about that, about what I went through and to know where I am today.”
Gordon says although they have been around since 1993, the Heavenly Gospel Band has not been doing much promotion and therefore the group decided last year that their goal would be to become better known. Besides the video release, there are also plans to release a compact disc later this year.
