Shernell Morris sent to Youth Hostel
When she was sentenced to eight years in prison for stabbing another teenager to death, the judge instructed that Shernell Morris was to be put in custodial care, away from more seasoned criminals. Today the Ministry of Human Development announced Morris will serve her sentence at the Princess Royal Youth Hostel. She will be required to reside at the hostel and abide by its rules, undergo counseling and psychiatric evaluations and participate in hostel and community service programs. If Morris fails to comply with any of these conditions or attempts to escape she will be returned to the Department of Corrections to serve the remainder of her sentence. Morris was convicted of killing sixteen year old Ashanti Joseph during a fight in August of 1997. She was fourteen at the time.
