Court’s collection agent missing over $16,000

An agent of Courts Belize Limited in San Pedro has unwittingly deprived the furniture and electronics store of over sixteen thousand dollars. Thirty-nine year old Jose Paz, of Milo’s Center located on Pescador Drive reported to police that his accountant Jerome Shal made the discovery of the missing monies. After making checks at the bank, Shal discovered that the monies collected on the behalf of Courts, between February second and fifth amounting to sixteen thousand, six hundred twenty-six dollars and seventy-eight cents were not deposited in the bank. When questioned, the previous collection agent informed him that she had the money in her possession and would hand it over to the company. But the police were called in to investigate when the woman failed to return the funds.
