A U.S $6.2 Million Loan Motion for COVID-19 Response
During today’s House Meeting, Prime Minister John Briceño presented a U.S. six point two million-dollar loan motion. It’s credit that the government seeks from the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development to finance the purchasing of COVID-19 vaccines, deploying those vaccines, and strengthening capacity. Here’s how the PM introduced the motion today in the House.

“This honourable House, being satisfied the loan proceeds will significantly assist the Government of Belize in its continuous efforts to contain and mitigate the spread of, and deaths caused by COVID-19, and strengthen the ability of the health system to respond to future health emergencies, approves and confirms that the Government of Belize may enter into a loan contract with the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development on the terms and conditions set out above and further authorizes the Minister of Finance to execute and deliver on the said loan contract.”
