New Lotto winner announced

Forty-six year old Alfonso Puerto is almost fifty thousand dollars richer after winning the Saturday jackpot in the Lotto draw. According to Puerto, who lives in Roaring Creek Village, he was at his fiancé’s home in San Ignacio when she came home and told him about the numbers drawn that night.

“Well, then she was not aware that I had bought any tickets so I tell her let me see and I drew one side and I look in the kitchen and I said, guess what, I have these numbers. She said you are joking and I told her, yes, I am. I won. Well you are lucky, that’s what she told me and I just relaxed after that.”

Q: “Alfonso did you use any kind of special method to pick your numbers?”

“Not really they were just numbers I selected just Friday morning at Brodies in Belmopan. I just selected those numbers just like this without thinking about it.”

The lucky numbers drawn were 6-7-11-19 and 23. The total jackpot was fifty seven thousand, five hundred dollars. Puerto, who takes home forty eight thousand, eight hundred and seventy five dollars, after government takes its fifteen percent tax, says he plans to pay some bills and put the rest of the money in the bank.
