National Security Minister Comments on Contract to His Father
While with the Minister of National Security, Florencio Marin Junior, we asked him to comment on the contract that has been given to his father to sit as an advisor to the Sugar Industry Control Board. The Briceño administration has been catching flak from the opposition for the thirty-six thousand-dollar contract to former deputy prime minister and politician, Florencio Marin Senior. Marin Junior says that it is just political criticism.
Florencio Marin Jr., Minister of National Security
“We can’t take our eye off the real elephant in the room which is the state of the sugar industry right now between ASR and the cane farmers. And in my view who better than a seasoned hand advising the young people, like a young minister, who is very capable himself but they’re not limited to only listening to the young generation, they are listening to all. You have a lot of good people in this ministry. I think at the end of the day, it is just a political criticism. And I think it didn’t hurt that they are not doing too well in the elections so anything to try to spark some storm. So it is just a political criticism on their part.”

“Have you been able to speak to your dad about it?”
Florencio Marin Jr.
“I have not had the chance because just like him I am busy as well.”
