W.P.C Trapp Investigated By Professional Standard Branch

W.P.C. Alicia Trapp is being investigated by the Professional Standards Branch for an alleged breach of the police department’s social media policy. The allegation against W.P.C. Trapp is that she violated standard procedures when she took to Facebook to air out her grievances over a reported altercation with Cayo South Area Representative Julius Espat. While Espat has confirmed that he, in fact, engaged the officer that day, her decision to go live on Facebook is a clear violation, according to Commissioner of Police Chester Williams. Notwithstanding that infraction, W.P.C. Trapp is not the first officer to be accused of breaching the department’s social media policy. Back in February 2021, similar accusations were levied against W.P.C. Alleeya Wade and Shantel Berry. Following their victory in a claim against the Belize Police Department, Channel Five invited both officers to speak about their ordeal on the Open Your Eyes Morning Show. Following the interview, W.P.C. Wade received a letter from Internal Affairs reprimanding her for violating the department’s social media policy. In that case, both officers were found guilty by a disciplinary tribunal. They were fined one hundred and fifty dollars each, which were to be paid in two installments. In both instances, Commissioner of Police Chester Williams reiterated the expectation that members of the department are to adhere to the disciplinary structures of the organization.
