Woman shot in bedroom by stray bullet
When you are inside your house after dark the last thing you expect to hear are gunshots. And you surely don’t expect a bullet to hit you. But that is exactly what happened to sixty five year old resident of one eighty nine West Canal, Barbara Savery. She was leaning on her window when one of the bullets hit Savery in her right arm and grazed her breast.

“Well I came in last night when the Boledo was to play. I put on my radio and when the Boledo finish play I heard and I look up the street and I saw the boy coming from Berkley Street but I did not know what it was. And when I look the boy started to shoot. He shot about eight to nine rounds. The last one of the round is the one that caught me.
You see, when he was shooting so the boy come back down the lane. He said Bo Bo boy why you shot, what happen to you and the same way he fired after he. And that that shot that caught me at my window. But I didn’t think that he could have reached me way here.”
Q: “And when did you realize that you got shot?”

“As the thing knock me, the thing burn and then I said what, and then blood start to spill and then I said I got shot! And, it was then I yelled for my daughter downstairs and I said come Grace, come Grace. She was out there looking at the scene up there at how the boy was behaving.”
One of Savery’s daughters who did not want to appear on camera told News Five that she was so devastated when she realized her mother was hit by a stray bullet. To make matters worse she says that about three years ago they lost a loving husband and stepfather after he was shot and killed at an ATM on Albert Street.

“Hmm. That was a terrible feeling because it was the same way my stepfather get killed by a gunshot. It wasn’t nice.”
Q: “And you were the first to come to her aid?”

“I was the first one because I live right downstairs. And, then she yelled, “Grace, I get shot.” I couldn’t believe it.”
Savery had to be taken back to the hospital this morning to get more X-rays. Hyacinth Latchman for News Five.
Police say that they are looking for Bo Bo Tillett who witnesses say is responsible for the shooting.
