Marin Says BPF Will Inform the International Community if PM Shows Cold Shoulder
So while the Belize People’s Front wants a spot at the head table and they will hold the P.M. to task, Marin says they will fight it on the international stage if the Prime Minister does not yield and asked everyone to push for participatory democracy for the advancement of Belize.
Nancy Marin, Leader, Belize People’s Front
“If he changed his stance and said that in the Summit, it would be hypocritical of him to not practice what he preaches at home and I am willing to go to the international media and fight this case of inclusion all the way because he can’t say something out to the world and not practice it at home. I’m not going to allow that to happen. Now that he has stated his case, we want to be included as well. We have not found anything that says that we can and nothing that says that we can’t. It’s open to the discretion of the politicians. So it’s really just the political will to say that they will include everyone and we want to be a part of it. The third parties have very prepared, very intelligent people and we are proposing Mr. Dwight Gabb in the Elections and Boundaries Committee. We believe he’s very prepared. He’s educated, he’s an IT Specialist.”
News Five reached out to Prime Minister John Briceño today to ask whether he will include the third parties in this process. His response was “At the moment we only have a technical team looking at this matter (no political party is represented). There will be discussion with everyone at the appropriate time.
