Bliss gets equipment from Japanese government
Video, sound and lighting equipment valued at over eight hundred thousand dollars will be handed over tonight by the Japanese Ambassador Katsuyuki Tanaka to Prime Minister Said Musa. The Yuujoo studio forms part of a cultural grant from the Japanese Government. Japanese grassroots development grants will also be awarded to three non-governmental organizations, the Belize Council for the Visually Impaired, Belize Red Cross Society, and Cayo Center for Employment Training. The amounts being given to the agencies total over two hundred and twenty thousand dollars. The contract signing takes place tomorrow at the Radisson Fort George Hotel. In related news, the National Drug Abuse Control Council has received a grant of six hundred and sixty thousand dollars from the European Union. The funds will be used to develop several aspects of a three-year project including a school drug prevention program, treatment and rehabilitation program and a community empowerment project. The Prime Minister will accept the grant from the European Union Representative Marcel Von Opstal tomorrow in Belmopan.
